Handicrafts have a history of thousands of years not only in Iran but also in the world. Because the early humans started to make engravings on the rocks in the heart of the mountains to convey their messages to each other. Therefore, it can be said that from the beginning until now, traditional arts have had a special place in different societies. Iran had many handicrafts in ancient times and some of the works left from that era can be found in museums and archaeological excavations.

According to what can be obtained from historical books such as Beyhaqi and Masoudi, social and political conditions have been one of the most important factors in the upward or downward growth of handicrafts. For example, if a kingdom showed interest in gold and jewelry in a period of history, the arts related to jewelry and inlays would see significant developments in their field; So, the people engaged in that industry enjoyed a better and higher lifestyle than the rest of the society.
